In 2009, I had a number of conversations with Jonathan & Georgina Aasgaard, principal cellists for the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.  They were looking for new cello repertoire and asked me to compose a duet especially for them to showcase their impressive instrumental abilities.

In 2011, Holly-Ann Coleman of Tilt Dance Company, Liverpool commissioned me to write a rhythmical piece exploring the nature of repetition for a four dancer ensemble.  For the staged performance, I composed for three music boxes and flute.  In subsequent performances I expanded the work to include an instrumental quintet.
